  Construction debris (new material) Demolition debris (old material) Materials exceeding five feet in length Items weighing more than 200 pounds (may require an extra fee for service and cannot be guaranteed) Treated wood – any wood that has been pressure treated with a chemical preservative to protect the wood against attacks from insects, microorganisms, or fungi.   RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS

  Residential customers receive two curbside Bulky Item Collection (BIC) appointments per calendar year at no additional charge, on your regular collection day. Appointments can be scheduled from February 1 through December 31 each year. BICs cannot be carried over from year to year. If you exceed your number of free pickups, you may request additional collections for a fee. If you are a tenant in a multi-family building, please contact your property manager to schedule a pickup.

  Assistance League of San Mateo County Funds from resale are used to purchase new clothing, uniforms, and books for underprivileged elementary school children and new books for family literacy programs. California Materials Exchange CalMAX’s mission is to build reuse markets for materials from businesses, organizations, industry, schools, and individuals, and to find markets for non-hazardous materials that may otherwise be discarded. Children’s Fund of San Mateo County The Children’s Fund benefits children and teens being served by the County of San Mateo’s Human Services Agency, probation, and mental health departments, as well as any children living in poverty throughout San Mateo County. FreeCycle A grassroots and non-profit organization of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own communities. Goodwill® Goodwill® inspires hope and self-confidence, helping people from all backgrounds and walks of life to feel successful, valuable, and dignified.

  Pick of the Litter Buy or donate items and help homeless animals. All proceeds benefit the Peninsula Humane Society. RAFT (Resource Area for Teaching) Everything you donate is used to help children learn. San Mateo County Office of Sustainability A listing of local organizations that accept household items for donation. Samaritan House A non-profit agency serving low-income families and individuals in San Mateo County. St. Vincent de Paul A non-profit organization that provides direct assistance to anyone suffering or in need.
