Russ Nordman is a multimedia artist from Iowa who works in video and assemblage. He and Katina Huston collaborated for four months and created twelve sculptures and assorted drawings during their residency.
Nordman makes sculptures that evoke nostalgia. They are deep in atmosphere and emotional tone. His constructions are formed from found materials that create an atmosphere of time and place. They are abstract landscapes, setting for plays of emotional life, created by exposing subtleties of color, texture, aroma and weight in found materials.
In Ascension of Charles, the artists erected a monument to the details that can make a life; in this case, the life of a neighborhood lawyer from the files, photos, and bills that were left when his office closed.
