My art derives from a fascination with American sociology and culture, exploring aspects of our society through various forms of critique and satire. Each hand-made work finds its place in the world as an installation or through subversive infiltration of public and semi-public spaces. The piece is often left to its fate through chance interactions with people. Secret observation, return addresses, aliases, and “customer comment” email addresses are all employed to facilitate responses. How different people interact with a particular work provides insight, not only to those individuals’ perspectives, but also to our culture. I employ humor as a device for lowering a viewer’s guard, making them more receptive to the delivery of fraught content.
