Working primarily in photography and video installation, I am a visual artist whose work revolves primarily around representations of identity. Navigating through a personal and political lens, my projects deal with issues of race, gender, and sexuality.
Over the years, my practice has woven together an intimate exploration of my own visibility as a queer immigrant and a deeply focused motivation to activate a critical dialogue about social justice and racial diversity through image-making. By considering my own body as a site for action and liberation while questioning the traditional role of the photographer, I often engage with self-portraiture and theatricality to subvert conventional standards of hypermasculinity and patriarchy.
My intentions reside in expressing connections between people while employing the camera as a tool for fostering agency, empathy, and solidarity.
