Environmental Learning Center
The John A. Legnitto Environmental Learning Center (ELC) is a dynamic education center where visitors can learn about what happens to the materials placed in curbside recycling, compost, and landfill bins, as well as many ways to minimize waste and conserve natural resources.
Located in San Francisco and named after one of our beloved General Managers who passed away in 2015, the ELC contains a gallery, where work from the Artist in Residence Program is shown, and a classroom with educational exhibits that serves as the starting point for public tours of the San Francisco Transfer Station and Recycling Center.
Our MissionThe mission of the Environmental Learning Center is to provide engaging, culturally responsive educational opportunities that inspire all people to conserve natural resources through both personal and collective action. Through our free public education and tour programs, our goal is to empower children and adults from all communities to create change toward a just and sustainable world for both people and the planet. |
